Fixed reading of files bigger than 2G. Non-UPXed versions of MPlayer and MEncoder are now on the 7-Zip self-extracting file; you can open it from inside the 7-Zip file manager and extract manually if you don’t want to use the self-extractor.
A bug I forgot to patch in the new mingw installation was causing libavformat to fail reading of files bigger than 2G. The -demuxer mkv workaround made it work… but only for the first 2G of the file.

Thank you very very much!!! I don’t know how to express my thanks.
I find a bug with playing some format incorrectly.
Do you have a space to let me upload the sample to you?
You can connect me with the email which i input above. Thank you.
Besides, i think the fontcache put into “All Users AppData” is better than User.
Because in the same computer, the fonts will not change usually.
And will not build more same cache files.
However, if you’re on a limited user account, you can’t write to the All Users folder.
Sadly i still have this annoying bug that rebuilds cache every time i have this error in console version and smplayer.Anyway great job.
He moderate this board and delete free speech. Manipulation.
lol
It always was moderated, but I always check and approve everything except for spam or trolls, unless it is a funny troll :)
Yep, it doesn’t work at all this time. I tried several scenarios:
1) no “fonts” dir in mplayer directory: the cache is not saved at all
2) fonts dir in mplayer directory exists: USERPROFILE_FONTCONFIG_CACHE is created in current dir (i.e. movie dir), but the cache is rebuilt evey time, even if it already exists.
3) the trick with manually creating .fontconfig in “C:\Users\\” doesn’t work this time -> cache is rebuilt every time, even though the process monitor shows that mplayer tries to use it:

Creating “C:\Users\tomba\AppData\Roaming\.fontconfig\” and copying the cache there doesn’t do any good though.
Ok, that’s me again ;p
I found out a workaround. When I deleted “fonts” dir from mplayer directory, “c:\Users\tomba\AppData\Local\fontconfig\698e8de9c79e614b8d6a96b5ce9682e6-mipsel.cache-2″ was created, *but* it still was recreated each time I started a movie. When I used old “d031bbba323fd9e5b47e0ee5a0353f11-i586.cache-2″ from one of previous builds and renamed it to “698e8de9c79e614b8d6a96b5ce9682e6-mipsel.cache-2″ it started to work.
Also, I think there’s a huge memory leak during cache creation: after an hour or so of tries, i have 2% of mem left :( (and I have 8 GB installed)
Actually, forget about that last comment, turns out I had process monitor running in the background… I need a rest.
Someone was noticed about crash when convert any wmv 2 flv ?
just wanted to say thanks
Thank you very much for your effort. Working pretty fine with SMPlayer, and with better performance in my Athlon64 X2 than the regular builds.
Hope the CPU optimized binaries at http://oss.netfarm.it/mplayer-win32.php could take advantage of your MT enhancements.
I am using your builds with latest svn smplayer and I can see that USERPROFILE_FONTCONFIG_CACHE is created at random. First it was named fontconfig in my user directory local settings/application data/. After I delete this, it made another directory, this time USERPROFILE_FONTCONFIG_CACHE in smplayer’s screenshots directory. Strange stuff.
Anywho, thank u for your work.
hello everybody
i am using mencoder with an transcode server by realtek. i replaced the original mencoder.exe with the latest one of your old homepage.
that gives it a real good speedup with X264 material up to 720p – many thanks for that – but now i tried the builds from your new homepage
and i get an error message of windows (Vista 64Bit Premium) that mencoder.exe wont work. what am i doing wrong (sorry but i am a real newbie)
has some problem,look this:

in the play this VOB file, image has some problem, old release(27000-)not has this problem.
can you fix this?
sorry about my english…….
P.S.there can not find he image upload edition, can you add this tool?
During ass init, my mplayer wants to load all the fonts every time I play a movie.
I see it putting the cache file in the fontconfig folder (iin AppData on Vista). I don’t understand why it wants to keep creating it even when one is already there.
I changed fontconfig to 0 in the config file until this can be fixed.
This build of mencoder crash down on opening ASF file. I want convert asf/wmv to xvid. Build from date 2009/03/07 works fine.
(Sorry about my bad english.)
Is it possible to add ENCA to future builds? Strange that this useful thing is not anywhere. And I always fail to compile mplayer with all dependences myself :( it’s so shamanic task on windows…
I tried compiling ENCA once before, but I failed :)
I can try again though.
The font cache has to be rebuilt every time I play a movie. There are also artifacts (tiling) when I play .vob files.
I tried deleting the 698e8de9c79e614b8d6a96b5ce9682e6-mipsel.cache-2 in fontconfig and letting mplayer build a new one in case for some reason it was corrupted. It generated a new cache file, but still always wanted to make a new one each time a movie was played.
I did like tomba4 said and renamed the cache file generated by an older mplayer (Sherpya-SVN-r28126-4.2.5) in the %user%\fontconfig\cache directory to the new name this version uses in AppData\fontconfig\698e8de9c79e614b8d6a96b5ce9682e6-mipsel.cache-2 and it worked! It no longer tries to generate another one (Thanks tomba4!)
So, it looks like this version is looking for the file in the right place. When it first creates the cache file it must be generating a broken cache file. If I’m the only person having this problem I could send the .cache-2 file my player generates, if it would be any help in finding the problem.
Hi
Thank you for your great work
I have problem with the (Slave mode), It works good but when I use (get_time_length) it always give me zero!
I wonder if you can fix this bug.
Thanks
Abduljabbar
So, the thing that mplayer cashes the fonts every time and makes this as if starts 2 times is in fact a problem with cashing some font(s) [as some on on irc channel told me). Of course I could not find out what font was the problem on my machine, but I was lucky enough to guess it.
So, now is all good and beautiful. Thank u so much for everything.
Ps. is it possible to make a detailed tutorial about compiling mplayer?
lavf seems to be broken, as some mkv files play with incorrect FPS, i.e. 24 FPS instead of 23.976. Also, it displays 0bpp instead of 24bpp:
VIDEO: [H264] 1280×720 0bpp 24.000 fps 0.0 kbps ( 0.0 kbyte/s)
-demuxer mkv recognizes it correctly:
VIDEO: [avc1] 1280×720 24bpp 23.976 fps 0.0 kbps ( 0.0 kbyte/s)
Is it a known problem? It works fine with your build from March 3rd.
me too! .@@
I made some tests using mencoder ton some old mpeg file…
emncoder seems can’t handle those file (work fine on oyher build)
Regarding font cache – just configure fontconfig. E.g. I put c:/tmp/fontcache in fonts.conf and everything works beautifully.
do earlier builds not have the font cache problem?
